Jeanne Lajoie is a hybrid minature climbing rose in the rose family (Rosaceae) and was a 1975 introduction from breeder E. P. Sima. Parentage is seed: C asa Blanca (large Flowered Climber, Sima 1968) × Independence and pollen: Midget. The vigorous shrub requires moist well-drained slightly acidic garden loam in full sun to light shade. Support will need to be provided if growing on a trellis or other vertical structure. It can also be grown as an open shrub. This rose will become 6-10 feet tall and spread 4-6 feet wide. Mulch to retain moisture and avoid overhead watering. Prune in late winter to early spring and reduce by 1/3 its size or more if needed. The abundant 2-inch double-pink blooms continue throughout the season. It has a mild tea fragrance and blooms in clusters of up to 10 per cluster on long stems making it a good cut flower. The compound leaves are glossy green on canes with prickles. It won the Award of Excellence from the American Rose Society in 1977. Grow this rose on a trellis, wall or fence. It can also be grown as an open shrub and will provide season-long blooms.
