Climbing pinkie rose is a hybrid Polyantha climber in the rose family (Rosaceae). It is a sport of 'Pinkie', was discovered by E.P. Dering of the United States and was introduced in 1952. Climbing pinkie will grow 5-12 feet tall and spread 6-8 feet wide. Plant in full sun and fertile well-drained moist soil for best results. Prune in late winter to remove dead and diseased canes. The bright rose pink flowers nearly cover the plant in spring to early summer and continue to bloom through fall. The flowers are semi-double, fragrant and 2-3 inches across with 17-25 petals. The canes are nearly prickle-free. Use this rose on a trellis or fence or cascading over a wall. Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: Good disease resistance but watch for black spot in humid conditions. See pests of roses to the left. Deer will browse roses, More information on Rosa .
