Weigela 'Sunset' provides attractively variegated rippled foliage with green centers and multicolored margins that may be ivory yellow, yellow, yellow-green, green or red, depending on age of foliage and time of year. In the fall the colorful gold foliage will turn to red, providing multi-season color for your garden. Unlike other varieties of weigela, this variety is not a prolific flower producer. This compact plant tolerates a range of soil types, air pollution and clay soil. Little pruning is necessary, however if you would like to prune to shape, do so immediately after flowering. This shrub blooms on old wood, so pruning at any other time will affect the next season blooms. A perfect addition to your garden for multi-season color. Recipient of the Boskoop Royal Horticultural Society Bronze Medal. Insects, Diseases and Other Problems: No serious insect or disease problems. Leaf and bud eelworms issues may occur. May be damaged by deer. More information on Weigela florida .
